Yellow Inspiration

Today I have a mani for you all inspired by my best friend who is an avid lover of all things yellow. Since she gave me the confidence boost to start this blog, this post is dedicated to her and her fashion blog (which you can find here.)

Being new to this polish obsession, my stash is admittedly very small. In fact, it all fits in one small basket on my bathroom counter. Needless to say finding nice color combinations can be tough at times. Luckily for me I have a love of gray polish and I think gray looks amazing with yellow tones. I wanted to try something new and so I went hunting through tutorials for ideas. I settled on playing with scotch tape and a dotting tool. Well, my cheapo version of a dotting tool which is a sewing pin stuck into the eraser end of a pencil. It does the job but I am kinda sad that I can't easily make different size dots. You may notice my short pinky nail and I do apologize. It broke a few days ago and I just haven't been able to bring myself to cut the others down to match it. I really loved this mani and even my husband complimented it which is a rare thing. Check out the results!

Check out that first pic, I almost look like a real nail blogger! Self congratulating aside, I also took a few in the sunlight so you could see the sparkle factor of both colors (click to enlarge).

Polishes I used for this were:

Sinful Colors base coat
Sinful Colors Let's Meet
DEB brand polish in Gun Madness (dark gray)
Sally Hansen Pedal to the Metal
Seche Vite top coat

You can find the tutorials I used to create this look here aaaaaaand here. Thanks for reading!

I Played With Sparkles

Since this is the first real post, I'll give you all a two-fer. That is such a weird looking word.

First up, some sparkly pandas! While searching the web and various tutorials for cuticle care, I found this tutorial and I just couldn't resist trying. That, coupled with the fact that my husband spoiled me rotten with about five bottles of polish one trip to the pharmacy, meant the beginning of my new found obsession. So without further ado, I give you the beginning of the end... of the world.... of Warcraft. Okay maybe not.  All I have is a cell phone pic to remember this one by, sorry about that.

Polishes I used for this were :
Sinful Colors base coat
Sinful Colors Call You Later (green/gold sparkles)
Essie Blanc
Sally Hansen Black Diamond
Seche Vite top coat

Manicure number two after the jump!

First post, awwwww yeah!

You've found one of the many nail blogs floating around on the internet. What makes this one different, you may ask? I suppose nothing other than the fact that IT'S MINE! I've never actually had a blog before so do pardon the rambling that I will no doubt inflict upon whatever readers may stumble into this mess. I'm just a girl with a new obsession with nail polish and a camera, seemed like the right thing to do. While I've always liked nail polish (and anything sparkly or shiny), it has recently become more of an outlet for me. Since I never really took it seriously as a hobby before, I am more or less a beginner compared to most other nail bloggers. So sit back and enjoy the show as I learn and grow with this whole nail endeavor. If nothing else I bet my horrible cuticles and sloppy polish will make you feel a little better about yourself.
